fifaworldcup.yahoo.comJoe is useless so i want to ask you which city we should stay in during the WC? Munich or Berlin form me. Munich cuz it's a class stadium and it is South. Berlin cuz its where the final is and the buzz will be there around the city around that time. I wouldn't mind joining an Engerland tour cuz of the fans and the team aint too bad. Off course if Australia makes it, it will be them. Let me know of your thoughts and feel free to take control of the organization of this cuz' I did schoolies and now it's your gigantic brain to organise it!

we coudl stay in both, after all i've never been there, and it woudl be nice to have a look around the place. plus if we get final tickets that woudl be mad. they would cost a shit load but wouldn't they
want to watch a brazil or argentina game. great atmosphere especially brazil. england woudl be pretty good too, cause we'll be around a whole bunch of drunk idiots, and i can point at scousers and laugh. you can differentiate them cause they smell ;D
i'll have a look and see. do you know anything about when we need to get tickets or anything?
i hope the aussies make it, but the way their defense looks, i'm not too hopeful.

bad news
'At the current time, the following 24 team series are sold out: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, England, Spain, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, USA, Switzerland, Sweden and Ukraine. However, tickets remain available for 81 nations.'
in fact chances of getting any tickets look pretty slim

damn they are a bit pricey, but i guess the trip would cost a fair bit anyway. the thing i'm worried about is dates. we all still have uni/exams till late june. no guarentees but i should finish my exams by the 14th the latest(med always finishes early), while your exam period ends only on the 23rd of june and obviously you don't know when your exams will be. i suppose we should fix a date to leave and figure out how much everyone is willing to spend.
btw my e-mail is ganeshbalendra@hotmail.com but just post things here, probably easier that way for other ppl to decide

I'm planning to defer/intermit uni in the 1st semester so i can save enough monay to take this pilgramige.
But looking at the dates, I could probably do it w/o exams being a bother.
You can request to sit them earlier if you are going on holiday ala Caldwell this year who did that.
He is a Monash student though so it may be different for you Melbourne people.

My preferences would be -

well i know that this sem, the 3rd yrs finished on a friday, and the med post exam party is always on a tuesday, which means that the latest that i will finsih is the 13th. will probably only have one exam after the 9th, so i wil be able to leave on the 10th, if i can get to do that exam earlier. anyway should be a minor problem, afterall, after sem 5 i'm technically not at uni anymore
question about the trips, do we have the leave on the date they stated, or can we hang around after that. i.e is the plane ticket open ended. and do we have to travel from sydney? can we get packages that are in germany only, ie we make our own way there?
i would like to watch the final. that'll be like a dream come true, but a semi would be pretty good too, especially if we're in berlin for the final, since we can soak up the atmosphere in a pub or something. probably be better anyway, than sitting with a bunch of suits. but i seriously don't mind, since its going to be hard to get tickets to finals etc anyway. also would like to watch some knockout stages cause the matches obviously would be better. if you can, coudl you find out if these packages are fixed or if we can add on to them.
and get an even no of ppl. will be cheaper that way. almost a grand cheaper is some instances
its obviously going to be pricey. i probably shoudl start working during these holidays then

Keep fishing for more packages.
I saw an american one but the prices were a joke.
Same as those above but in $US.

dude i have been looking at air fares. they will be at least $3000. but i can't get any listings for flights one year away. we'll need to wait for a few months.
hotels will be like 100 per night, but they obviously vary.
the prices being offered for the matches are quite ridiculous. they are like 500 dollars each, increasing depending on the stage. i can get semi tickets at like a 1000 dollars(note these are US prices) obviously its cheaper thru the official site, but we can' buy any atm.
anyway e-mailed a couple of other package sites. some need a deposit for any info at all, and others are ridiculously expensive. right now your guys seem the best option

hey i just talked to a guy from internation sports tours, and he says he can get flights to leave from melbourne, and we can stay as long as we want outside of the package they fix for us. also we can sutomise the packages we want to see, say mixing the group matches and knockout matches. but the thing he stresses is that they have a limited no of places available, so we shoudl get in quick
i was thinking we watch say 3 group stage matches, and then a few knockout matches, possibly a semi or a final as well.
if we hung around for a fortnight, then we could watch the last round of the group games, and matches up to the semis something like this perhaps? Munich 18-Jun-2006 Group F Match 27 Munich 21-Jun-2006 Group C Match 38 Munich 24-Jun-2006 Final Sixteen Match 49 Dortmund 27-Jun-2006 Final Sixteen Match 55 Gelsenkirchen 01-Jul-2006 Quaterfinal Match 59 Dortmund 04-Jul-2006 Semifinal Match 61
(it takes an 1-2hrs by train to go to gelsenkirchen from dortmund)
what do you think? just a suggestion. we can change the matches/cities we're at, if you wan to go see berlin or frankfurt instead of munich or dortmund, and we don't need to watch that many matches either.

OK, Given your preferences . We shall stay in Berlin or Munich then.
I'm happy with that.
That is established(?)
****If we stay in Berlin we can see a max of 4 group matches, 2 quarters and the final.
****If we stay in Munich we can see a max of 4 group matches, 1 final-16 game and a semi.
The $$$ involved with this will be amazingly high now though.
15 000? at least.
I sould be alright now cuz I now have a $18 p/h >20 hour job and these few weeks i'm getting 40 hours a week.
Will you be ok now though?
$500 deposit needs to be gathered.
Is that per person?

sorry i modfied the above post after you posted.
i'm going to get extra shifts at work. i have a fair bit saved up already, about 6k, and my parents probably will probably help me out a bit too. plus i have 3 months in summer to work. should be able to get 1k every fornight if i work fulltime. so i should be set. we'll see what the costs will be. obviously if they balloon out of proportion, we'll have to rework the trip. plus i have a feeling we probably coudl get accommadation cheaper if we get like a serviced apartment like at schoolies
